Festive floral flat lay

Hello, We awoke this morning to heavy snow. I’m not one for the cold or wet so I decided to spend my snow day Sunday drinking lots of tea and styling a little festive flat lay.

I made a moody backboard using a canvas board and acrylic paints. It works really well against wire fairy lights and really makes things pop!

It’s been a good couple of months since I’ve been able to spend an afternoon styling a little flat lay. I really enjoy doing them, it’s relaxing and fuels creativity giving me inspiration for other projects. What’s your favourite way to inspire your creativity?

Faux florals

Well I never in a million years thought I’d have faux flowers in the home. Especially as my job is growing flowers. But even I have to admit, when winter comes, faux florals can be an instant pick me up.

I’ve mixed peonies and ferns here and I think the textures work great! I’ve even added some faux ferns in with some dryed hydrangeas which I’m also loving.

Gone are the days of plastic and poor quality fabric flowers covered in dust.

Easy to style, bring drama to a room and mix in with dryed and real blooms, I can’t deny it, I’m completely won over! How about you?

Calming February hues.

My china blue roses linen is the perfect soft delicate background for a February flat lay.

I love to take a minute, with a cup of chamomile tea, my wild flowers book for new inspiration, a fresh bloom and a scrap of one of my fabrics. It helps me creatively- to calm my mind, see where I’ve been and make plans for where I’m going.

It’s also a pleasing composition of textures for flat lay photography. The fragile paper thin bloom, the texture of the linen, the cover of the book and the cup of tea all work in harmony to create a calming February hue with a pleasing form.

My designs reflect the seasons and my mood of that moment, I remember painting this one  one whimsical evening when the light was hazy and the roses had wilted slightly on their branches. At the moment my designs are very bold and full of the joys of Spring, my colour palette at the moment is pastel bright, and my prints are bolder as I’m really loving designing blocks! However this digitally printed linen is still one of my favourites, and is always a beautiful inspiration on its own!
